Action Research Findings

Updated: Mar 19, 2021

21st Century Methods

Recently, an action research study was conducted to determine what proven methods are currently being implemented by veteran teachers to positively impact diverse student achievement. Most teachers surveyed included regular technology implementation, multimodal strategies, and student-centered learning activities as ways they reach their diverse learners.

The pie chart on the left represents data collected from a Google Forms questionnaire distributed via email to teachers in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District on February 28, 2020.

The pie chart on the right also represents data collected from the February 28, 2020 questionnaire.

Multimodal Technology

To gain further insight into how teachers use multimodal strategies, specifically multimodal technology, in their instruction, an interview was conducted with a veteran teacher of 13 years.

Results from the action research indicate teachers are quite aware students have a variety of learning styles, abilities, and needs; instruction that differentiates for these styles, abilities, and needs is being implemented by teachers in the form of tutorial videos (YouTube), collaborative game play (Kahoot!), and online collaborative discussions.
